Burgundy-ish List: What to Love in This Season’s Hottest Shade

A guide to women's fashion items in on-trend shades of burgundy.

Everywhere we look there are rich shades of red: particularly burgundies, maroons, and wine-like shades.

Burgundy, the color that Vogue calls a “new neutral,” is seeing a rise in interest. Vogue points to an uptick in searches: Google saw a five-year high in interest in maroon, and burgundy searches are up by 666% on shopping platform Lyst, Vogue reports.

While the statistics are illuminating, the color’s accession in the fashion world is evident without deep research. Brand after brand after brand’s offerings this season include burgundy.

With that in mind, Appetito has come up with a selection of cute and affordable burgundy and dark red (burgundy-ish) pieces to consider adding to your wardrobe for fall and winter.

The RPZL Premium Acetate Big Hair Claw Clip in Cherry Red (RPZL - $24)

Hair accessories are the perfect way to add a hint of burgundy (or another shade of red) to your look. We love the RPZL Premium Acetate Big Hair Claw Clip in Cherry Red  and also RPZL x Bella Gerard Morgan Marble Stacked Cuff in Burgundy.

Maple Loafer in Burgundy Patent (Revitalign - $129.99)

Loafers are such a great option for fall - and we love the Maple Loafer in Burgundy Patent from Revitalign. This pair is as adorable as it is comfortable.

Sneak Peak Burgundy Velvet High-Rise Trouser Pants + Sneak Peak Burgundy Velvet Bustier Crop Top (Blank NYC via Lulus - $128 + $88)

We're convinced this pairing from Blank NYC sold by Lulus is the perfect party look. Comfortable and chic, you need this trouser and bustier crop top combination in your holiday rotation.

Crocodile Embossed Leather Crossbody Bag in Classic Burgundy Red (Banana Republic - $240)

This bag is truly gorgeous. Well-made, sleek and spacious, it's a great option for both daytime and nighttime wear. Plus, it's classic, so it won't go out of style.

We also love Banana Republic's Italian Wool-Cashmere Scarf in Burgundy Red to add a touch of the trendy color to any outdoor winter look.

Asymmetric Gathered Top (Zara - $29.99)

This top has been on heavy rotation — it's been pulled out least once a week since it was purchased. It's flattering, subtly unique thanks to its asymmetrical shape, and it pairs well with jeans for an easy dinner-out look.

Plush Cardigan in Crimson (Vineyard Vines - $169.99)

Vineyard Vines is a great go-to for high-quality, classic pieces and this Plush Cardigan in Crimson is no exception. Soft to the touch, it's a great elegant-yet-casual piece that could very well become a closet staple.

Women's Structured Satin Blazer - A New Day (Target - $40)

A good blazer is a wardrobe essential and this option from Target is a perfect fit for not only the ongoing burgundy trend but also for the holiday season. It's a bit oversized, totally stylish and super comfortable.
