I am a dress girl through and through. In the summer, this is only more true—and as we move toward the latter part of August, I’ve been looking at what summer pieces can easily be worn into the fall, too.
Recently on my Substack, I highlighted a number of selects I tested from Banana Republic for the upcoming transitional period. But one other dress the brand kindly sent me earlier this summer sticks out for the same reason.
I don’t often spotlight a single item in Sunday Shop, but this one is worth a standalone. More on that below.
I’m Morgan Hines, Appetito’s food and style writer. I have experience covering travel, fashion, food, entertainment, lifestyle, health and fitness and more.
I keep my finger on the pulse of what’s fresh, trending, and classically stylish, working to incorporate those elements into my daily life. Now, through Appetito’s Sunday Shop, I’m ready to share those insights with you.
This is meant to be a casual, quick look, but I’m always happy to expand on inclusions. Feel free to email morgan@morganhines.com if you want more details on any products, restaurants, or experiences—maybe I’ll even write a follow-up piece.
Cheers,
Morgan
Banana Republic Ruched Mesh Midi Dress
Banana Republic’s Ruched Mesh Midi Dress in Gold Floral Tile hits the mark: It’s comfortable, cute and it can be dressed up or down.
The sleeveless midi dress includes ruching at the waist, a high, square neckline and side slits. With a classic sheath fit, it hugs the body with a straight skirt—I don’t always gravitate towards the most body-conscious options but this one is super flattering. The straps are adjustable and it’s lined with a longer mesh overlay.
I’ve had it in heavy rotation this season and it has staying power:
How I styled the dress for summer: Paired with black kitten heels, delicate gold jewelry and loose waves plus tortoise sunglasses to complete the look. It’s lightweight, breathable and offers an immediate confidence boost.
How I’ll style it for fall: Underneath a sleek leather or oversized denim jacket with tall leather boots and a high ponytail for nighttime occasions. For daytime casual, I think it would work well with ballet flats or maybe even sneakers.
