Earlier this summer, I spontaneously signed up for a half marathon. Not my best move in the middle of wedding planning and a busy summer but now I’m committed.
So, I’ve been alternating running and strength training over the past several weeks as I prepare for the Big Race Day. For what it’s worth, it’s not a huge race, it’s more like a group run to my understanding. But I’m not exactly an intense runner so this is perfect for me.
I’m a creature of habit when it comes to workout gear. I buy the same items over and over and then use them over and over … and over and over.
You get the point.
Below, I’ll share the combination that I’ve been wearing on repeat, including the top I have in an array of bright colors (for visibility—and for fun).
I picked up the Nike Quest 6, a women’s running shoe, at one of Nike’s outlet locations with neutral expectations. I often get blisters from running shoes but after more than a month of use my feet are blister-free and the shoes have felt supportive and comfortable from the jump.
These shoes are engineered for road running, according to Nike. On the product page, the brand emphasizes a supportive band around the midfoot and responsive foam elements of the shoe intended to add comfort.
OFFLINE By Aerie High Waisted 3" Butterfly Hem Hot Stuff Short
For years, I’ve stuck to wearing leggings because I’ve had trouble with shorts riding up. But Aerie’s High Waisted 3” Butterfly Hem Hot Stuff Short has changed the game for me.
I bought a pair on sale to test earlier this summer and now I have three pairs. I expect that number to continue to rise.
With buttery soft undershorts and a fully elastic waistband, these shorts are my new go-to—and not just for running. I’ve worn them to play tennis, run errands, lounge around—the list goes on. Better yet, they have pockets that have proven secure for my apartment keys and more.
And, right now, they’re 40% off.
P.S. I also love the OFFLINE By Aerie Real Me Low Key Longline Sports Bra.
lululemon Align™ Tank Top Light Support, A/B Cup
I have been wearing lululemon’s tank tops for the past four years and they do not disappoint.
Comfortable with a bit of support and soft, wicking fabric, these tops are made for yoga but I wear them for running, too. I do not need as much support up top—so keep that in mind before buying.
I often purchase these tops when they are marked down in the brand’s “We Made Too Much” section on the website.
