How to Make Basic Pasta Dough at Home

Our contributor, Chef Jackie Bakula, shares a basic recipe for making fresh pasta dough at home.

At Appetito, not surprisingly, we talk a lot about pasta. We talk dry pasta, and we talk fresh pasta in our recipes, roundups, features, and news. What we have yet to do, though, is share a recipe for making fresh pasta at home — something we highly recommend.

Thanks to our contributor, Chef Jackie Bakula, we now have a simple recipe for you to make your own pasta and use it in as many ways as you can imagine.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound 1 00 flour

  • 9 oz 9 eggs (roughly 5 large)

Directions

  • Add flour to the bowl of a food processor.
  • With the food processor running, slowly add in the whisked eggs.
  • Once the dough starts to come together, remove to a clean surface and gently need for 8 to 10 minutes.
  • Cover with plastic wrap and let sit at room temperature for 30 minutes.
  • Using a pasta roller, roll out pasta dough in sections to a #7.
